“Due Date” Trailer, Starring Downey & Galifianakis, Drops With a Quiet Thud

We've had "Due Date" in our crosshairs for some time. With Robert Downey Jr. and Zach Galifianakis in director Todd Phillips' follow-up to "The Hangover," this one looked like a lead pipe cinch. But the first trailer? Not so much.

The film has Galifianakis (sporting a perm) as an aspiring actor who is traveling to Los Angeles with Downey, who is desperate to get home for the birth of his child.

The trailer isn't bad, there are plenty of genuinely funny moments -- it just doesn't live up to the promise of the talent behind it.

The film is stacked with a great supporting cast featuring Juliette Lewis, Michelle Monaghan (if you haven't seen her and RDJ in "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang," rent it today), Jamie Foxx, Alan Arkin, RZA and Matt Walsh, who played the doctor in "Hangover" and gave a nice turn as Katherine Keener's fiance in the criminally overlooked "Cyrus."

"Due Date" comes out Nov. 5.
