Iceland Refuses to Let Family Name Daughter “Harriet”

Authorities in Iceland have told parents of young girl that her passport won't be renewed because her name, Harriet, is not on a government approved list of names. The 10-year-old girl's British-born father, Tristan Cardew, and Icelandic wife are appealing against the he Reykjavik National Registry’s decision. Icelandic law requires that children's names be approved by the National Registry or cleared by authorities.
