Florence churned into the coast of North Carolina as a Category 1 hurricane, bringing with it damaging winds and life-threatening storm surge and rainfall. Hurricane watches and warnings affected more than 10 million people when it made landfall Friday morning; President Donald Trump had declared states of emergency for North and South Carolina and Virginia. Below are maps that show the storm’s predicted path and severe effects. The maps will be updated as new information becomes available.
