President Hollande Bestows France's Legion d'Honneur on Train Attack Heroes

The three Americans who helped thwart an attack by an AK-47-toting gunman on an Amsterdam-Paris train received France's highest honor on Monday.

French President Francois Hollande gave childhood buddies Alek Skarlatos, Spencer Stone and Anthony Sadler the Legion d'Honneur. Chris Norman, a British man who also rushed the assailant on the Amsterdam to Paris train Friday, also recaived the award during a ceremony at the Élysée Palace, the president's official residence.

"Here are four men who with the help of others acted not just to save their own lives but who also came to help others and saved the lives of others," said Hollande. "We are giving you the highest distinction of the country to show you how much we appreciate what you did."
