Christopher Columbus' “Santa Maria” Discovered, Says Explorer

A marine explorer from Massachusetts believes he has found the remains of Christopher Columbus' flagship, the Santa Maria, off the northern coast of Haiti, NBC News reported. Barry Clifford hopes to begin excavation of the ship, which sunk on Christmas Day in 1492, as early as next week. "I think the evidence is overwhelming that the ship is most likely the Santa Maria," Clifford said at a news conference in New York on Wednesday.
