‘We Tried Hard for a Long Time': Chris Pratt, Anna Faris Announce Separation

After eight years of marriage, the couple said they "will always cherish our time together"

Chris Pratt and Anna Faris announced late Sunday that they are separating after eight years of marriage.

The same statement was released on Pratt's Facebook page and Faris' Twitter. The posts, signed by both actors, said the two are "sad to announce we are legally separating.

"We tried hard for a long time, and we’re really disappointed," the statements continued. "Our son has two parents who love him very much and for his sake we want to keep this situation as private as possible moving forward. We still have love for each other, will always cherish our time together and continue to have the deepest respect for one another."

The couple's only child, Jack, was born in August 2012.

Faris and Pratt met in 2007 on the set of "Take Me Home Tonight," which released in theaters in 2011. They married July 9, 2009, in Bali.

Pratt appeared in "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" this year, while Faris is starring in the comedy "Mom" and had a voice role in this year's "The Emoji Movie."

The actors often used their social media accounts to joke with or compliment each other
