Flight Headed to LAX Diverted Due to Passengers' Suspicious Behavior

A Southwest Airlines flight headed to LAX was diverted Sunday morning after several passengers acted suspiciously, according to airline officials.

Crews members on flight 5929 from Indianapolis to Los Angeles diverted to Kansas City at about 7:50 a.m. when three passengers "did not follow crew instruction upon takeoff and continued to exhibit suspicious behavior in-flight," Southwest Airlines said.

All passengers were taken off the plane. The unruly passengers were questioned by law enforcement and were later booked to continue on another flight, FBI officials said.

It is unclear what the suspicious behavior consisted of.

As a further security measure, K-9 teams swept the aircraft, and bags were thoroughly checked before the flight was re-boarded., the FBI said.

The remaining passengers departed Kansas City at 9:20 a.m. and were scheduled to arrive in Los Angeles approximately one hour behind schedule, at 10:40 a.m..
