Screaming, Cursing Woman Removed From Flight at Philly International

A passenger on a US Airways flight departing from Philly International was removed from the plane Sunday night by officials after yelling at flight attendants.

The incident took place around 9 p.m. on US Airways Flight 738, which was heading to Lisbon, Portugal. Officials say 119 passengers were on board the plane, which was already delayed about 50 minutes, when the unidentified woman began to cause a disturbance.

“This woman passed me yelling about how we weren’t going to Brazil, that we were going to Portugal,” wrote Mike Irving, a passenger on the plane who recorded the woman and uploaded the video on YouTube. “She was being very loud, swearing. Overall, you could sense that people didn’t feel comfortable around her.”

According to Irving, a police officer boarded the flight, which caused the woman to yell even more.

“This woman begins to raise her voice more and more while a flight attendant tells her to calm down,” Irving said.

The video shows officials moving the woman off the plane as she continues to scream and curse while accusing them of harassing her.

“You’re f****** harassing me! You’re a f****** bigot!” the woman screams.

Eventually the woman was removed from the flight for “failing to comply with crewmembers, disruptions and disruptive behavior,” according to US Airways spokesman Kent Powell.

Philadelphia Police confirmed the incident and told NBC10 they believe the woman was having an anxiety attack. She was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania for evaluation. No charges were filed against her, however.

The entire ordeal lasted 15 to 20 minutes. According to Irving, the flight eventually left around 10:15 p.m.
