New Jersey Mall Reverses Course, Will Now Let Kids See Santa for Free

Children wanting to see Santa Claus at a southern New Jersey mall won't have to pay after all.

The Cherry Hill Mall released a statement Monday saying visits to its Adventure to Santa would be free of charge to all children this holiday season. The move came amid backlash over reported costs of up to $50 for a packaged visit that included photos or video.

Many parents said the cost ran counter to the spirit of the holiday and was a disincentive to low-income families. The exhibit is one of only 12 Adventure to Santa attractions in the country.

"We appreciate our loyal customers and will continue to incorporate social and compelling experiences into the mall environment throughout the year for all to enjoy," Cherry Hill Mall Management said in a statement. "We hope families from around the region check out this must-visit holiday destination at the Cherry Hill Mall and also visit our other traditional Santa experiences at our six sister properties in the Philadelphia region."
