NH ‘PB4WEGO' Vanity Plate Gets the OK From Gov. Chris Sununu After Recall Notice

The plate owner is one of more than 90 drivers in the Granite State who received vanity plate recall letters this year

A New Hampshire mother will be allowed to keep her "PB4WEGO" vanity license plate after Gov. Chris Sununu got involved.

The governor reached out to the Department of Motor Vehicles Wednesday and "strongly urged" them to let Gonic resident Wendy Auger keep the plate she's had for 15 years, he said in a statement.

"Upon this being brought to my attention, I reached out to the Division of Motor Vehicles and strongly urged them to allow Wendy to keep the license plate she has had for the last 15 years. I recently left a message on her phone to share the good news that her plate will not be recalled," Sununu said.

Auger told NBC10 Boston on Tuesday that she had received a letter from the DMV saying her vanity plate was in violation of a state code because it referenced an "excretory function."

"I decided to appeal it immediately," she said.

Auger wrote a letter back to the DMV, arguing that not only does it bring smiles to strangers, but it's a saying everyone has heard before.

Auger was in the appeals process when Sununu stepped in, his office said that Sununu heard about the issue from a mutual friend at the general store in Newfields.

She's one of more than 90 drivers in the Granite State who received vanity plate recall letters this year.
