Massachusetts Man Charged with Choking 5-Year-Old Girl

Solomon Martinez was arraigned on Monday morning

A Massachusetts man is facing assault charges after police say he choked a 5-year-old girl.

Solomon Martinez, 19, of Middleborough, Massachusetts, is charged with two counts of second degree assault. He turned himself in to police in Exeter, New Hampshire, on Friday on an outstanding arrest warrant and was ordered held on $10,000 cash bail following his arraignment on Monday morning.

Exeter Police said Martinez's arrest stemmed from an investigation into injuries suffered by a 5-year-old girl at a home that Martinez was visiting. He allegedly choked the victim by placing his hands around the girl's neck.

The two charges Martinez is facing are punishable by up to seven years in prison, according to Exeter Police.

It was not immediately clear if Martinez had an attorney.
