A former manager of a Miami Beach candy shop was arrested after allegedly robbing the shop at gunpoint and leaving his cellphone at the scene, police said.

Jemm Urcil Prospere, 29, was arrested Tuesday on an armed robbery charge in the Feb. 11 theft at Dylan's Candy Bar at 801 Lincoln Road, a Miami Beach Police arrest report said.

The report said the store's manager was counting the daily deposit in the vault room when he was robbed at gunpoint by a suspect. At one point, he tried to disarm the suspect and a struggle ensued, with the suspect's gun going off and hitting an office wall, the report said.

The manager was able to push the suspect down a flight of stairs, and the suspect fled, the report said. When officers searched the scene, they found an iPhone belonging to Prospere had been left behind, the report said.

Detectives soon learned that Prospere had worked as a manager at the store until he was terminated in June 2018. Prospere was familiar with the store's daily procedure for counting and storing money, the report said.

Prospere was being held without bond Wednesday, Miami-Dade jail records showed. Attorney information wasn't available.
