Vandals broke into a Newhall preschool and took learning tools, leaving behind beer cans and splashed paint

Police in Santa Clarita, California, are asking for the public’s help to find thieves who stole hand puppets and other learning tools from a Newhall preschool and left behind a trash bag filled with empty beer cans and the building splashed with paint.

Teachers at the school arrived at the campus to discover orange, black and purple paint splashed on the outside cement, the building and classroom walls. Cabinets were left open and items had been taken.

The vandalism and theft was reported to deputies with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Santa Clarita Station August 26, according to a statement.

Hand puppets, a domino set, a camera, microphone, batteries and an iPod charger had been taken.

The building smelled of alcohol, deputies said.
