A five-month old baby has died at a Spanish airport after becoming trapped on a luggage conveyor belt late Wednesday, officials said. An American woman, the baby's mother, was travelling with the infant and another small child from Gatwick airport near London to the Spanish resort town of Alicante, officials told Reuters. The baby's father was going to pick up the family at Alicante-Elche airport, in southeast Spain, that nigh. An airport security worker said in a televised statement to the Atlas news agency that the incident happened after the mother put the baby down on luggage carousel.
