Alleged Terrorist Insists He Just Wants to Help Quake Victims

Hafiz Abdul Rauf has been accused by the international community of running a front group for a terrorist organization, but he’s shrugging off those accusations and insists that he just wants to help victims of last month’s deadly earthquake in Pakistan.

The State Department and the United Nations allege that Rauf’s Falah-i-Insaniat Foundation is a front for a militant organization blamed for the 2008 terror attacks in Mumbai, India.

"People can believe that we are terrorists but we don't really care," Rauf told NBC News. "We are only worried about helping people. We have seven medical teams, 100 paramedics, nine doctors, and several engineers. Do you think this is how terrorists work?"

Despite Rauf’s alleged terror ties, his aid group remains popular and was among the first agencies on the scene following the magnitude-7.5 earthquake struck the region on Oct. 26.
