Three teenagers have been arrest in at least a dozen slingshot attacks in the Phoenix-are in what authorities described as a copycat spree mimicking the freeway shootings that have terrorized drivers for three weeks.
When asked if the arrests are a resolution to the 11 shootings of vehicles on Interstate 10, a spokesman for the state Department of Public Safety said, "God, no. I can tell you that for sure."
After a driver and his wife were struck with a projectile on the interstate, they managed to record the license plate number of the attacker's car. The suspects admitting having shot granite projectiles with a slingshot at at least a half-dozen pedestrians and seven vehicles during a shot period of time on Saturday, the spokesman said.
