15 Doses Used In Arizona Execution

State documents revealed on Friday that Arizona executioners had to administer 15 doses of a lethal drug cocktail before a death row inmate finally died last month after gasping for two hours. The state Department of Corrections announced that it was proceeding with plans to appoint a panel to review John Wood's July 23 execution, using a never-before-tried cocktail of drugs from an undisclosed source. Media witnesses said Wood, who was condemned to death for the 1989 murder of his girlfriend and her father — was gasping for air for an hour and 40 minutes.
