This 100+ foot pine tree came crashing down on our house at 10:45 last night. Luckily no one was injured, and as far as we can tell, a corner of the deck railing is lost and the gutter and roof are damaged. All can be repaired!! (The really good news is that our power is now back on after an 18-hour outage!) Burke, Va.

I took this last night on our circle in Germantown. As you can see, we've got some tree limbs down, but since our power is underground, we're still warm. I didn't take a "correct" measurement, but we got about nine inches here. The last time I remember a 3:1 wet snow like this was a winter storm we had in the late '80s.
