Tapas for Papas? Gifts for a Less Boring Father's Day Bash

Hotels and restaurants roll out Father's Day specials

Looking to get something a little more special for Dad this Father's Day than the typical greeting card and box of golf balls?

Many places around D.C. are providing packages for Father's Day, just as mothers have gotten on their celebratory day for years. Kimpton's Morrison House, a hotel in Alexandria, calls theirs a "Parents 'Time Out' Package," awarding parents with a stress-free -- and child-free -- night away from home.

The package includes overnight valet parking, a night in a king guest room, a $60 credit toward breakfast in bed and a late checkout, to ensure full relaxation.

The hotel even assures peace and quiet by giving parents a 25 percent discount if they can't sleep because of a screaming child.

Other restaurants and hotels also are giving out Father's Day deals: The Mayflower Renaissance hotel in Northwest is offering a "Father Knows Best" deal, where Dads are given a $100 food and beverage credit towards Edgar's Bar and Kitchen downtown.

Dads also get an appointment at Thomas Pink,  receive a free gift with the purchase of a Thomas Pink shirt, and the free opportunity to have the shirt pressed and delivered to the room before dinner.

If your looking for some entertainment for Dad, The Odyssey and Spirit of Washington are providing brunch cruises around the Potomac. Cruises for the Spirit of Washington run $59.90 for adults and $69.90 for The Odyssey.

And if your Dad is a small-plates guy, La Tasca, the Spanish restaurant in Bethesda, is running a deal called "Tapas for Papas", where fathers will receive tapas and a drink for $25.
