World Police and Fire Games Events You Won't Want to Miss

The World Police and Fire Games coming to Virginia will host more than 50 events from June 26 to July 5.

And some of those events, frankly, are unmissable.

Police, firefighters and customs and corrections officers will compete in popular events including basketball and boxing, and will also have more unique events to choose from, including the ultimate firefighter competition and the pistol action combat event.

Here are a few events that will push our service men and women to their physical limits:

June 27-30: This year’s Toughest Competitor Alive will be the top performer after eight events including pull-ups, a 20-foot rope climb and an obstacle course. The Cub Run ReCenter (4630 Stonecroft Blvd. Chantilly, Virginia) will host.

June 27-28: Most dogs are bred as pets, but a select few are trained to protect and serve alongside police. See them in action at Lake Fairfax Park (1400 Lake Fairfax Dr., Reston, Virginia) during the two-day police service dog competition.

June 29-July 1: Check out the natural-terrain Budds Creek Motocross Park (27963 Budds Creek Road, Mechanicsville, Maryland) to see competitors tear through the dirt and dash to the finish on two wheels in the Motocross Competition.

July 1-3: The ultimate firefighter competition Is a two- to three-day competition where teams are put to the test of time in an obstacle course, a hose task and a weight and strength test. This event is getting a new location; click here for details.

July 1-3: Hop off the Silver Line Metro at Tysons Corner and experience the four day dodgeball tournament at Lerner Town Square (8025 Galleria Drive, Tysons, VA).
