Worker Rescued After Falling Into Empty Water Tower in Virginia

A worker was rescued Thursday afternoon after he fell into a 100-foot water tower in Gainesville, Virginia.

The man was working on the water tower in the 7200 block of Old Carolina Road when he fell in shortly after 1:30 p.m. Thursday.

He was injured, but there's no word on his condition at this time. He was taken to a hospital.

There is no water inside the tower, News4's Darcy Spencer reports.

Prince William County Fire & Rescue were called to the scene and strapped the man in a safety harness to pull him from the tower.
