Woman Killed, Man Hurt in Maryland Hit-and-Run

A woman was killed and a man was injured in a hit-and-run crush in Maryland late Monday.

They were trying to cross St. Barnabas Road in Marlow Heights about 11:30 p.m. when they were hit by a vehicle, Prince George's County Police said. The driver fled the scene. The victims were not in a crosswalk at the time of the crash, police said.

Both victims were taken to a hospital, where the woman died. Police identified her as 54-year-old Laurel Grier of Suitland. The man was treated for injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening, police said.

The striking vehicle might have been a dark-colored SUV, possibly a GMC, with front-end damage, police said. Authorities are investigating.
