Woman Gives Birth in SUV in Northern Va.

A woman gave birth to a bouncing, baby ice princess Tuesday morning in Virginia.

Police in Fairfax County responded to a 911 call shortly after 6 a.m. A language barrier created a little bit of confusion, county police spokeswoman Lucy Caldwell said, but a responding officer found a woman wrapped in blankets inside a Toyota SUV on the side of the road at Nutley Street, near the Vienna Metro station.

The woman cracked down the window and showed the officer a healthy, bundled, newly delivered baby girl. She gave the officer an OK sign to indicate that all was well.

The woman had been on the way to the hospital when she stopped and had the baby.

Paramedics arrived and took mom and baby, a healthy 6 pounds, 8 ounces, to Inova Fairfax Hospital.
