Wintry Weather Possible Next Week

After weeks of bouncing between cold snaps and warm, balmy days, we're about to see a return of winter -- and that may include a wintry storm in the greater D.C. area.

Storm Team 4 Meteorologist Tom Kierein said there is some indication that by midweek next week, the weather patterns will change significantly. Much colder air will move into the region, and when it collides with warmer air over the western Atlantic, it may create a strong coastal low-pressure storm, bringing us rain, snow and wind.

However, the latest data indicates that the storm may form out to sea. If the colder air hits farther east, we'll have sunshine in the D.C. area instead.

Even if there is no storm, we'll likely have the coldest temps of the season so far, and we may experience the season's first freeze.
