White House to Host South by South Lawn Festival in October

Washington, D.C., is getting its own version of South by Southwest.

The White House will be "celebrating the spirit of innovation" on Oct. 3 by hosting their own South by South Lawn festival.

The festival will be comprised of three parts: an interactive series of panel discussions, a student film portion and live musical performances. The musical lineup has not been released, but will include well-known and emerging artist, according to a press release from the White House

But before you grab your festival gear, there's is a catch.

You must be nominated to attend.

According to the White House, the event will bring together people who work to "improve the lives of their fellow Americans and people around the world."

So if you or someone you know is creating change in your community, you can submit a nomination here.

In March, President Obama attended South by Southwest in Austin to discuss civic engagement and entrepreneurship which inspired this event. Michelle Obama also attended to discuss her Let Girls Learn initiative.
