West Virginia Man Drowns in Virginia While Saving Son

Authorities say a West Virginia man drowned while saving his son at Cascade Falls in Pembroke, Virginia.

Giles County Sheriff Morgan Millirons told the Bluefield Daily Telegraph that the body of 34-year-old Christopher Allen Mounts of Rock was recovered Saturday evening.

Millirons says Mounts jumped in the pool area near the bottom of the falls Saturday afternoon after his son went under the water while swimming. Mounts was able to push the child to the bank, but Mounts went under the water and never resurfaced.

This is the second death at the area in less than a month. On June 25, another man also died after falling into the water during a hike.
