Wegmans' Alexandria Location to Open in June

Alexandria, Virginia location to open in 2015

In just a few months, residents in Virginia will be able to shop at a new Wegmans location.

The Rochester-based supermarket chain says its Alexandria location will open on June 14 at 7 a.m.

The store, which is located at Telegraph Road and Beulah Street in the Alexandria section of Fairfax County, was supposed to open in 2014, but was delayed, the Washington Business Journal reported last year.

Wegmans is looking to fill 300 part-time positions. Recruitment for full-time positions began in October.

“Though the opening is months away, we’re training our team now so that they receive some of the most in-depth culinary, customer service, and product education in the industry,” said Store Manager Mike Dempsey in a release published on the company's website.

The store will be the company's seventh in Virginia.

Wegmans Food Markets announced last year that it planned to add 10 new stores in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions over the next year or two. Opening dates for most of the other locations has yet to be determined.

Wegmans currently has 85 stores in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia, Maryland and Massachusetts
