Weather Alert: Gusty Storms Take Down Trees, Soak DC Area

More scattered showers are expected for Sunday

Storm Team4 has declared a weather alert as scattered thunderstorms bring strong winds, heavy downpours and possible flooding.

Storms pummeled the D.C. area and brought down trees and power lines in some areas.

Lightning sparked two house fires in Arlington, Virginia, the fire department tweeted.

In Loudoun County, multiple intersections lost power for a short time along Route 7, the sheriff's office tweeted.

Clouds will continue overnight into Sunday with another chance of scattered showers and storms possible.

Expect a few storms throughout the day on Sunday.
