Watch 128 Chihuahuas Race at the Wharf to Celebrate Cinco De Mayo

The Wharf is set to host the 7th Annual Running of the Chihuahuas, when 128 pint-sized pooches race in groups of eight on a 60-foot race track.

The event is free to attend, but it's $30 to enter your chihuahua in the race. The deadline to register online is May 4.

All entry fees will benefit Rural Dog Rescue, a D.C. based non-profit organization dedicated to saving dogs from high-kill shelters in rural areas of Virginia, West Virginia, and North and South Carolina.
Don't have a chihuahua, but want to participate in the dog-friendly event? A costume contest is open to all dogs.

Winners will take home pet-friendly gifts, prizes and, of course, an official championship trophy.

Walk-ups to enter on race day will be accepted until all the slots are filled.

The race is set to be on the District Pier at The Wharf from 1 to 5 p.m. The pier's address is 101 District Square SW, Washington, D.C.
