A Spotsylvania, Virginia, woman was arrested and charged with murder in the death of her 3-month-old child, authorities say.
On March 17, Spotsylvania deputies and medics responded to the Cambridge neighborhood about an unresponsive baby. The baby was taken to a local hospital, and later pronounced dead.
Officials determined the cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head, according to the Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office.
Investigators learned 25-year-old Stephanie Hadeed, the child’s mother, was taking care of the infant at the time of death, the sheriff's office said.
Deputies issued a warrant for murder against Hadeed after an investigation.
Haddeed turned herself in on Saturday and is in custody at the Rappahannock Regional Jail, the sheriff's office said.
