Virginia Has Helped 1,400 Homeless Veterans in Past Year

Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe is set to announce that Virginia has helped 1,400 homeless veterans find permanent housing in the past year.

The governor and U.S. Housing and Urban Development Department of Housing and Urban Development Secretary Julian Castro are set to make the announcement Wednesday at the Virginia War Memorial in Richmond.

Virginia has a veteran population of about 800,000, according to state officials.

McAuliffe has made ending veteran homelessness a key priority.
