Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe is traveling to the Middle East and India as part of a 11-day trade mission.
The governor is set to leave Friday for a trip that will include visits to the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Kuwait and India. A focus of the mission will be promoting Virginia-based defense companies, who are looking to replace shrinking U.S. military spending with investment from the Middle East.
The governor and his delegate plan to attend more than 100 meetings during the trip and host give receptions.
McAuliffe has made luring companies to invest in Virginia his top priority and has been a frequent overseas traveler.
McAuliffe isn't the only area politician undertaking trade missions right now -- D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser is currently wrapping up a week-long trip to China.
