Video: 7-Eleven Clerk Disarms Shotgun-Wielding Would-Be Robber

Authorities say a convenience store clerk disarmed a would-be robber who was pointing a shotgun at his face.

The Frederick News-Post reports that surveillance footage shows a man wearing a bandanna over his face burst into a 7-Eleven store early Tuesday near Frederick and point a shotgun at the clerk.

The clerk immediately grabbed the barrel of the gun and wrestled the weapon out of the suspect's hand. Store owner Abdul Ayub says the suspect fled empty-handed.

Frederick County sheriff's deputies say the shotgun was not loaded.

The next day, authorities arrested 18-year-old Ryan J. Wages, charging him with attempted armed robbery. It is unclear whether he has an attorney.

Ayub says it is the fourth time in eight years that someone has tried to rob the store.
