A Congressman from Virginia says better management techniques will help keep tabs on whether Chesapeake Bay restoration efforts are successful.
Representative Rob Wittman says he wants to implement cross-cut budgeting, where budget information from multiple agencies around a common policy goal is presented. He says the Chesapeake Bay partnership involves 10 federal agencies, six states, thousands of localities and dozens of non governmental agencies. Wittman says cross-cut budgeting will help make data from multiple agencies understandable, measure progress and increase accountability. Environmental restoration projects include the Florida Everglades and the California Bay Delta.
