Va. School Bus Aide Charged in Assault of Boy With Autism

A Fairfax County school bus aide has been arrested and charged with assaulting a 12-year-old boy who has autism. The arrest marks the third time this week police have announced that a school employee in the county has been accused of assaulting a child with autism.

Hyung Lee, 57, has been charged with assault and battery.

The investigation began when the victim's mother noticed that her non-verbal son was coming home from school with bruises. A supervisor reviewed surveillance footage from the bus and saw two encounters between the victim and the suspect, police say.

Investigators say Lee assaulted the boy on Oct. 10 and Oct. 19 during the ride to school.

A warrant was issued for Lee's arrest, and he turned himself in to police Tuesday afternoon.

Lee is the third Fairfax County Public School employee to be charged with assaulting a child with autism this week.

Earlier this week, Fairfax County police announced that a school bus driver and an aide had been charged with assaulting a 11-year-old boy who has autism.

Police say the two cases are not related.
