Va. Man Stabbed Stepfather to Death: Police

A Woodbridge man has been charged with murder after police say he stabbed his stepfather to death Wednesday night.

According to Prince William County Police, Mauro Reynaldo Rodriguez, 42, was sitting in the living room of his home in the 5600 block of Northton Court when his stepson, 29-year-old Brian Antonio Hernandez, entered the kitchen, grabbed a knife and began pacing.

Police say Hernandez's mother tried to get him to drop the knife, but he walked around her and stabbed the victim several times.

The suspect's mother called police while the victim's brother tried to stop the attack, police added. When officers arrived, the victim's brother and Hernandez were fighting.

Rodriguez was transported to an area hospital, where he later died.

"My heart is saddened to hear that," a neighbor told News4. "He was very hard-working, he pretty much worked seven days a week and took care of his family."

Hernandez is being held without bond. It's unclear whether he has an attorney.
