Amid Blazing Heat, Woman Left Puppy in Car That Got Towed

D.C. police rescued a Yorkie puppy on Monday after a woman left the dog in her car and the car was towed. 

Amid scorching temperatures, the dog owner left Jack, a seven-month-old Yorkie in her car. And she parked in a restricted lane, police said. 

The car was towed to 11th and H streets NE. 

First District officers got Jack out of the car and gave him water. 

Temperatures in D.C. peaked at 94 on Monday afternoon, with the heat index at 104 degrees. A heat advisory was in effect for D.C. 

“As a reminder, never leave your pet in the car unattended.” D.C. police said on Twitter.
