U.Md. Student Attacked, Robbed by Group of Men

A University of Maryland student was kicked to the ground and robbed by five men only steps from campus, police said.

Late Friday night, the male student was walking on the sidewalk between Lehigh Road and Regents Drive when a group of men approached him from behind, police said. One of the men then pushed the victim down the ground and grabbed the victim’s property out of his hand. The victim then jumped up and fought the attacker until other members of the group kicked the victim back down to the ground.

After he was subdued, the original assailant took the victim’s cash and the group ran toward Baltimore Avenue and Regents Drive, police said.

No weapons were used during the robbery, police said. The victim suffered minor injuries.

The victim reported the crime to the University of Maryland Police Department the next morning. He described the original assailant as a white man in his 20s with a mustache, black hoodie, black pants and black Nike sneakers with a white swoosh. Currently, there are no descriptions for the other four men. Anyone with information on this crime is asked to reach out to the University of Maryland Police Department at 301-405-3555.
