‘Simple City' Theft Ring Suspect Surrenders; 2 Still Sought

A man believed to be involved in a theft ring that robbed dozens of people in Prince George's County over six years surrendered Wednesday, according to the FBI -- and two suspects are still sought.

Accused "Simple City" conspirator Oluwasheun Morrisey turned himself in Wednesday, the FBI said. A reward of as much as $5,000 is offered for information leading to the arrests of remaining fugitives Edward Swails and Terrell Felder.

The three men were among 14 people indicted in federal court on racketeering conspiracy scheme charges in the July 16 bust of Simple City.

Law enforcement officials stormed 12 suspects’ homes as part of the bust. Seven suspects were arrested. Two were already in custody. A manhunt ensued for the remaining fugitives, including two suspects who were not named.

Simple City is thought to be responsible for dozens of crimes, including car, electronics and wallet thefts; business burglaries; ATM looting and identity theft, police said.

Authorities believe the group netted about $5 million over six years of criminal activity in Maryland and D.C.

Officials said the defendants were caught via surveillance of their cell phones and using their own posts to social media.

Defendant Jeff "Fro" Crews sent a text message to a co-conspirator with three photos of a stolen 2014 Mercedes the co-conspirator wanted to buy, according to the U.S. Attorney's office.

In another text message, a co-conspirator sent Crews a photo of two guns, offering to sell them to the 24-year-old for $1,200.

Anyone with information that could lead to the arrests of Swails or Felder is urged to call the FBI at 410-265-8080.
