Two Sexual Assaults in Takoma Park

Takoma Park Police Department investigators are speaking to a person of interest in a case involving a sexual assault on Saturday at Montgomery College.

A woman's rights and privacy were grossly violated while she was sitting in the school library. A man walked passed the victim and ejaculated on her arm. When she turned to him, he was standing behind her, exposing himself.

The victim was able to able to get a good look at the suspect, who fled. Afterward, the victim immediately reported the incident to the library receptionist, who dialed campus police and the Takoma Park Police Departmnet.

But even as the woman was contacting police, the suspect returned to the area, standing behind the victim and speaking to her before fleeing the library again.

The victim has no prior relationship to the suspect.

Campus security pursued the subject on foot through campus before he entered a maroon, four-door sedan with Maryland tags and escaped. He left on Fenton Street toward Takoma Avenue.

Police were able to collect DNA evidence from the suspect. There have been no arrests made at this time.

In a separate incident, a cab driver was arrested for indecent exposure Sunday night.

Takoma Park Police Department officers arrested 42-year-old cab driver Kuru Wondwosen for indecent exposure, after he exposed himself to a customer.

After realizing she had left her cell phone in the cab, the victim used a payphone to contact the cab's driver and ask that he return her phone. When the driver returned to the 900 block of University Boulevard, he told the victim to get into the front passenger's side of the cab. She refused and noticed that the man had exposed himself, police said.

The victim finally retrieved her phone and fled to a neighbor's hosue, where she called the police. Takoma Park Police Department and Montgomery County Police Department officers found the taxi on the 1100 block of Bonifant Street.

After he was positively identified, Wondwosen was arrested and transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit.
