Two Prince George's County police officers have been indicted in separate incidents that occurred while they were on-duty, Prince George's County Police Chief Mark Magaw announced Thursday.
The officers allegedly assaulted juveniles, according to the State's Attorney's Office.
The first incident allegedly happened in November 2012 after a 15-year-old was arrested for alleged disorderly conduct, authorities said. He was screaming in his cell when Officer Jerry Thomas struck and shoved the handcuffed juvenile. Thomas has been charged with two counts of misconduct.
Thomas' police powers were suspended with pay in November 2013. He has been with the department for five years.
In the second incident, which allegedly occurred Nov. 12, 2013, School Resources Officer Charles Pickard assaulted a student at Suitland High School before arresting the student, authorities said. He's charged with second-degree assault, multiple counts of misconduct and one count of reckless endangerment.
Pickard, a six-year veteran of the department, was suspended with pay on Nov. 14, 2013.
Both officers were assigned to the Bureau of Patrol.
