Regular Metro Service Resumes After Fire on Tracks

What to Know

  • Orange and Blue line trains are single-tracking between Arlington Cemetery and Foggy Bottom.
  • Silver Line trains are operating between the Wiehle-Reston East and West Falls Church stations only.

Orange and Blue line riders may have experienced some delays Monday morning after a track fire at the Rosslyn Metro station, but regular service has now resumed.

Arlington County firefighters quickly extinguished the fire at the Rosslyn Metro station about 6 a.m. Monday.

Fire officials said an arcing insulator started the fire. An arcing insulator is when an insulator along the third rail gives off sparks or smoke.

Trains on the Orange and Blue lines single-tracked for about an hour. Normal service has resumed.
