Two Killed After Car Hits Utility Pole in Silver Spring

Two people were killed after a car hit a utility pole in Silver Spring, Maryland, early Sunday morning.

Montgomery County police said the collision happened around 2:30 a.m. Sunday on University Boulevard West at Royalton Road. They said two men, a 24-year-old driver and a 28-year-old passenger, died at the scene.

The driver was identified as Leonel Osvaldo Gonzales, 24, of Silver Spring. The passenger was identified as Hodimyr Gonzalez, 28, of Silver Spring.

Investigators said speed could have contributed to the collision.
