Two Homes Evacuated in Gaithersburg After Retaining Wall Collapses

Two homes were evacuated as a precaution in Gaithersburg after a retaining wall collapsed Sunday, police said.

Three adults and two dogs were evacuated from the homes in the 100 block of Ridge Point Place in the Kentlands development. Northbound Quince Orchard Road between Hillstone Road and Pawnee Drive will remain closed for much of Monday's morning rush.

After the wall gave way, utility crews -- from Pepco and the City of Gaithersburg Public Works department -- were called to the scene to check on the homes' utilities.

No injuries were reported.
