Two Prince George's County firefighters suffered injuries trying to extinguish a raging house fire in Capitol Heights, Md., Friday afternoon.

The blaze broke out about 3 p.m. in the 1100 block of Addison Road South. Authorities closed the road in the area due to the fire engines and hoses, News4’s Jackie Bensen reported.

Firefighters entered the house to search for occupants but quickly evacuated due to untenable conditions, according to Prince George’s County Fire and EMS spokesman Mark Brady. They found the female homeowner outside and uninjured.

Firefighters knocked down the fire in about 20 minutes.

Two firefighters went to Washington Hospital Center’s burn unit with minor burn injuries.

The woman’s house was under renovation, Bensen reported. She was displaced.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Damage is estimated at $125,000.
