Two Drivers Carjacked Within 15 Minutes in D.C.

Police are looking for the person who stole two cars at gunpoint within 15 minutes Tuesday night.

Both carjackings took place in front of businesses in Northeast D.C. between 8 p.m. and 8:15 p.m.

The first incident happened in front of a convenience store in the 1900 block of 9th Street NE.
The thief approached the owner of a black 2008 BMW 328i  and showed the driver a small black handgun. Police say the vehicle is a four-door sedan with D.C. license plate number EU2354.

Minutes later, a black 2005 Mercedes Benz CLK320 with Maryland license plate number 7BN5740 was stolen from in front of a service station in the unit block of Florida Avenue NE. The thief also showed a handgun in that incident, police said.

The two crime scenes are about a mile apart from each other.

During the carjacking at the service station, the suspect was seen getting out of a silver Toyota Prius. A description of the suspect was not released.

Investigators say anyone who sees the stolen vehicles should call police and tell them where they last saw the cars.
