A man was fatally shot outside a Charles County townhouse Wednesday afternoon.
The shooting was reported in the 2600 block of Rooks Head Place in Waldorf and may have been the result of an argument.
The victim has been identified as 29-year-old Lydell Walter Wood of Waldorf. Charles County Police say Wood was shot and killed during a confrontation in the parking lot of his neighborhood.

Students at two nearby schools -- Benjamin Stoddert Middle School and Eva Turner Elementary School -- were told to shelter in place immediately following the shooting.
