Two Arrested in McLean Home Invasion That Stemmed From Workplace Dispute

Sources say all four people involved are lawyers

Police have released the identities of a man and a woman arrested following a violent home invasion in Virginia, which, sources say, stemmed from a workplace dispute.

Andrew Schmuhl, 31, and Alecia Schmuhl, 30, of Springfield, both face two counts of abduction and two counts of malicious wounding. They are in custody at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.

McLean Police say the Schmuhls are responsible for a home invasion that left another man and woman with stab wounds. It happened in the 900 block of Spencer Road in McLean.

Sunday night, a male resident was stabbed after answering a knock at the door. A female resident heard the commotion and went to the door, where she was also stabbed.

One of the victims activated an alarm, and police were called to the scene just before 10 p.m.

Though they were critically injured, the victims managed to help detectives track down their attackers, who were arrest about an hour later.

"The suspect vehicle was very quickly located and stopped," Officer Don Gotthardt with Fairfax County Police said.

Sources told News4 that all four people involved are lawyers, and that Alecia Schmuhl had recently been fired.

Authorities said Wednesday the victims remain hospitalized.
