The National Weather Service reported a tornado did touch down in Maryland Monday evening.
Although little to no damage was reported, the tornado was spotted in Charles and Prince George's counties Monday evening.
According to Storm Team 4 Chief Meteorologist Doug Kammerer, there was a report of a funnel cloud in the area of La Plata at approximately 7:30 p.m., traveling northwest toward Brandywine and Upper Marlboro.
That storm is part of a larger system that caused significant damage further north.
In East Windsor, Conn. an EF-1 tornado shredded the dome of a sports complex. In Yonkers, N.Y. the winds sheered off a piece of one building's roof and sent it flying, hitting other buildings before crashing to the street.
