A wave of severe weather rolled across Northern Virginia Saturday evening, sparking severe thunderstorm and tornado warnings in several counties.
A severe thunderstom warning was in effect for northern Montgomery, southern Frederick and southern Carroll counties in Maryland until 11:45 p.m.
The National Weather Service issued two tornado warnings for Fauquier County around 6 and 7 p.m. as severe storms generated rain and strong gusts of wind. The town of Warrenton reported downed power lines and trees and the National Weather Service said eyewitnesses spotted a funnel cloud in Fauquier.

Anyone living in the area should head to the lowest level of their homes and stay away from windows should a tornado warning be issued again.
Severe thunderstorm warnings in effect for Stafford County, southeastern Fauquier County, central Culperper County, and south central Prince William County all expired at 8:30 p.m.
The National Weather Service had issued a tornado warning earlier for the area south of Front Royal until 6:30 p.m. They issued a second warning that expired until 7:45 p.m.
Weather conditions on Sunday will remain hot and humid.
Storm Team4 says the D.C. area should expect showers and storms to begin after about 2 p.m., with temperatures in the 80s to low 90s south of the District. Storms are expected to be strong to severe, and the area should expect damaging winds, blinding rain and a slight possibility for hail and an isolated tornado.
